As promised..

So in the last few weeks I found my camera cord and was just too lazy to load all the pictures. Sorry guys. but now..as promised... here it is! First, a slide show of Lila's sweet moments. There's some bath time, Christmas tree putting up, and some night night shots.

She's just getting so big so quickly! She is now also the proud owner of her very first tooth! Congratulations Boo! She was very excited. Also, She's been on the verge of walking. She now stands for little moments, but then she realizes she's standing and down she goes. We have to work up her confidence. :) here's a short video of Lila bear taking off on her toy. She does it for longer [usually until she hits a wall] but as soon as she sees the camera she stops. Crazy girl. Well, she was just looking cute in this one.. trying to scratch her nose i think..
In this one she only takes a few steps with her toy, but usually she'll take off on that thing until she hits a dead end..
Lila also played with a puppy! She kept opening her mouth trying to taste Sadie. During Thanksgiving, my sister came into town and it was bath time in the Lewis house. Lila knows better than to eat dirty bubbles from the tub, but Momma said nothing about the yummy bubbles in the cup! She sticks her hand in the cup, collects bubbles, and in her mouth they go. Let's watch.

Here's a couple of pictures of us putting up our tree!

I don't know what's going on here, but you can see the growth of her sweet hair. It's finally growing in! It's not much, but its coming down over her ear and on her neck! yay!

Here's some old pictures of lila with Daddy's hat on

Brian insisted that I post those even though they're months old. :]

Well, In a few days [this time for sure!!] I will post pictures of lila's first Christmas!! Can you stand the excitement!? Ripping gift paper, eating holiday cookies and Christmas food, playing with all her new toys... it's gonna be pretty great.

Updates

First, Brian has lost my camera cord, so when he gets home later, I'll update with pictures.

  • Lila is growing and growing and growing. She's still very petite and slim, but she's very very long! It stinks, because she fits pants for older kids, but the waist doesn't fit her! I have to alter them to make sure they stay on her waist. Poor kid.
  • She's a climber! She climbs on us, on the couches, and now, she piles stuff in front of tables to climb on them! She tries to climb out of her crib too. I enjoy her braveness, but I'm so scared she'll actually fall off one day. When She climbs up on the couch, she'll sit like a big girl, eat a cracker or two, and then try to get off nose first. She's crazy sometimes!
  • Stamps are a rarity in our house. Brian leaves them around on a table, and Lila is then covered in 42 cent stickers.
  • I am dead set on putting a bow on Lila. They are the clip on kind, so she'll keep them on for a little while and then rip them off her head. This has made for a bald spot on the side of her head. Gah! i guess its back to the headbands.
  • Lila loves grocery shopping! Well, she loves any activity where there's a lot of people around her telling her she's cute. She literally draws a crowd. People crowd around her and wave and smile and baby talk to her and call her cute and pretty and say how pretty her eyes are. Lila LOVES it. She coos and makes this sweet shy face (which is totally fake) and then she'll give me this look like "hahahaha. they love me." Yes. My kid really is that cute. That, or people here are just really amazed by little white kids. I don't know.

Gah. New videos coming up, Lila doing crazy cute things and what not. Also, Lila's first Thanksgiving pictures and videos coming soon!

The Many faces of Lila.

Lila's newest things are her crazy faces and her sweet ta-ta-ta-ta-ta noises. I caught a few of them on tape. Also, some pictures of her just looking cute. Enjoy!! [also, check out her cow lick..]

Kind of mad? I don't know. Lila and her crazy angry eyes.

Looking very sweet playing on the floor :]
Clapping! Yay!
She enjoys grabbing Daddy's face!

There you have it folks. And I'm lucky enough to see those everyday! :]

Rebel without a cause

Lila has been bad. I shouldn't say that.. Lila has been very "age appropriate" lately. She's a curious little bear and she gets into everything! Just so you have an idea of the things she puts me through, we're gonna bullet it up:

  • I am certain that if Lila could walk and somehow communicate she'd be ready to potty train. Every time she goes potty [especially #2] I find her diaper removed from her body. i have to keep fitted body suits on her now, lest I wake up to a poo smeared Lila. I guess she doesn't like the feeling of a wet diaper so she decides to fix the problem herself.
  • Lila has been teething lately, so to make her feel better, I thought I'd take her to the park for some good times. I was a damn mess however, so I jumped in the shower. Since sweet Lila gets into everything I took her to my room and shut the door. I picked up everything off the floor. I unplugged anything she could pull the cord on. I picked up the bathroom rug, trash can, closed the toilet lid, and even swept. There was nothing, nothing, Lila could possibly get into. As I very quickly brought my hair to a lather, rinsed and repeated, I could hear Lila's little noises very near. I peeped my head out to scope out the place, but there was no Lila to be seen. hm. I continued to rinse. Suddenly, who should come sliding into my tub chin first? Lila. Sopping wet Lila. Sopping wet Angry Lila. Why was she angry? I don't know man, I don't know.
  • Do you remember loving shinny pennies as a kid? I do. I especially the extra brass colored newer ones. They were my favorite. Apparently, my love for pennies has been passed on to my child. Every time Lila is strangely still and quiet I find her with a mouthfull of pennies. Pennies! Where does this child keep finding pennies!? We're not change people either. Neither of us carry change in our pockets. we don't even have a change jar to collect change! Yet, on a nearly daily basis, Lila is munching on pennies. I just pray for her little bottom the day she should actually swallow one and it comes out the other end. ouch.
  • Lila's newest thing is her inability to not be on top of me at all moments. Even when Brian is home, Lila opts to lay all over me instead. She enjoys pulling only my hair and attempting to gauge out only my eyeballs. Lila is not content unless she knows she has made me completely uncomfortable and only upon this achievement is she satisfied. Silly girl...

Although a lot of the things she does make me crazy, its amazing to see my sweet girl growing and learning everyday. Happy 8 month birthday baby doll!

Bed Time Experiment

I've been experimenting with Lila lately on her bed time. It seemed that the later i put her to bed, the earlier she would wake up, and vice versa. I conducted the experiment as scientifically as I could. For a week's time I would put her to bed at a certain time and see what time she'd wake up. 10:00 pm: wake up at 6:30 am 9:30 pm: wake up at 7:30 and finally, 9:00 pm: wake up at 8:30. It seemed that for every half hour early I would put her down, she would sleep an hour later. I say its a win win. I've been sleeping in till 8:30 this week and it has been glorious. Either I have the world's best baby, or babies are just that scientific. Either way, I'm sleepin good tonight.

The Establishment

Lila has become more and more mobile, and in my effort to move as little as possible until my kidney stones pass, She has been in her crib all day. It's not all bad. She's got her toys, sippy cup, the whole nine. After a while of not hearing any noise at all, I went in her room to find this:

I look in her crib and find the above, and of course panic thinking She's 'escaped' or fallen to her death or something. I called her name and out she came!

In the time that it took me to upload those pictures to my computer I hear Lila bear laughing to herself. I go in, camera ready to catch a smile and I catch her red handed tearing down the establishment.

It was a very "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" moment.

After double knotting and fixing the bumper pad, I put a t-shirt on her and read her a sweet story and put her to nap. I turned the monitor on and a few minutes later I went in to check on her and found her in a completely different place, hugging her toys, and naked. Why do I even put clothes on this child?

Sweet dreams Lila. I can only hope that you don't grow up to be an extremist or hippie or something.

Kidney Stones

That's right. I've been plagued with kidney stones. The only thing worse than kidney stones is having a cabinet full of narcotic pain killers unavailable to me because I have Lila bear to run after. This morning I got up at 7:30 to give her first bottle and put her back to sleep, and then again at 10:30 to give her her next bottle. She finished it and started running her bottle against the rails of her crib like a tiny prisoner. I felt so bad for her I took her out and let her roam the house. It was short lived because Lila will always find the most dangerous thing to go after the fastest and I'm pretty sure pulling the extension cord to the bean filled crock pot will have ended in disaster. Back in the crib. We're both in bed now waiting for Brian's work day to be over so I can get my hands on those sweet narcotics. mmmm.
